PrintPlace partnered with the Belgian War Heritage Institute on a remarkable endeavor, recreating replicas of the authentic 1832 Belgian Flag Lions. These historic lion adornments once graced military Belgian flags during the early days of the Kingdom of Belgium. Originally housed in the Royal Military Museum, the delicate originals were carefully stored to preserve their integrity, necessitating the creation of faithful replicas.
Collaborating closely with the WHI, we meticulously aligned scan data with the original models, ensuring both printability and fidelity to the originals. Utilizing ASA, a material resistant to UV and heat, we produced the replicas before expertly assembling, post-processing, and painting them to closely match the originals. Today, these intricately crafted replicas are showcased in the museum’s Historic Gallery, a testament to our dedication to preserving heritage through advanced technology.
